The Ozark Mountains surround Fayetteville and provide outdoor enthusiasts with a virtual playground for rock climbing, horseback riding, canoeing, mountain biking, hiking, running, and fishing. Many area parks, lakes, and rivers are within a short drive from the heart of the city and, of course, golf is plentiful with over 20 area courses from which to choose.

If your idea of a good weekend is to take in a local festival then Fayetteville has got you covered. SpringFest, Fine Arts Festival, AutumnFest, Bikes, Blues, and BBQ, and Lights of the Ozarks are just some of the many annual events that provide area residents with an outlet to display their artistic and creative talents.

BOTANICAL GARDEN OF THE OZARKS

The Botanical Garden of the Ozarks has a unique history - unlike many public gardens, the gardens you see today are the result of a volunteer-led, grassroots effort. It is located in north Fayetteville on 90 acres off Highway 265 on the bank of Lake Fayetteville. The first phase of development has been completed. In the near future, a trail with interactive exhibits will follow the creek that runs through the Garden. Short-term plans include greenhouses for demonstration and production. Phase 2 construction will include a large visitor center, office space, interactive exhibits, a research library, and parking space.

The Garden is a place for learning and wonder, celebration and contemplation for the Northwest Arkansas community and all who visit Fayetteville!
